Learning to Fly
You´ve thought about learning to fly, but you can´t figure out where to
start?
Start at the Ottawa Flying Club! Come in and take an Introductory Flight, consisting of a thorough pre-flight briefing,
a flight around Ottawa with one of our Flight Instructors, and a post-flight
review. Best of all, you do most of the
flying!
After that, the process is pretty simple:
You'll also have to get an Aviation Medical before you
progress too far, but we'll cover all of that as part of your Introductory Flight
briefing.
Also, if you want to make flying your career, check out Algonquin College's Commercial
Pilot and Aviation Management program, a 48-week intensive
training program where students are immersed in academics
and Flying the Aircraft every day. It offers unique opportunity
to earn a Commercial Pilot Licence and an Algonquin College
Certificate in less than 1 year.
So stop thinking about it, come on out to the Club, and start doing
it!
Other Services
Sightseeing Tours
Whether you want to check out the Autumn colours in the Gatineau Hills, check
out the shape of the golf courses in the area, or just take a look at your house or
cottage from a unique viewpoint, the Flying Club is there to help.
We offer tours of the City for anywhere from 1 to 3 passengers.
The tours normally last an hour, but can go as long as
you like and, unlike the airlines, electronic devices
- such as cameras - are more than welcome.
Want to give a Tour as a gift? No problem: the Club offers gift certificates.
Aircraft Rentals
All Club aircraft are available for rent to Flying members. Whether you
are looking for a short rental for a quick tour of the city, or you're planning a
trip and you require an airplane for a couple of days, the OFC has just what you need. Check the OFC Operational Policies for more
details.
Aviation Seminars
On an ongoing basis, the OFC offers a series of general interest aviation seminars covering such topics as Flying to the USA, Float Flying, Meteorology Reviews, Radio Navigation for VFR Pilots, ATC in Ottawa and Introduction to Turbine Engines. They take place at the Flying Club, usually last a few hours, and are free of charge to club members.
